Observations, analysis, and absolute parameters of the evolved binary AI Phoenicis
Strohmeier (1972) has identified AI Phoenicis (HD 6980) as a type EAeclipsing binary. The present investigation was initiated in connectionwith a program to extend the solar UV limb-darkening study of KjeldsethMoe and Milone (1978) to another solar type star. Milone et al. (1981)describe a UV center-to-limb variation experiment. The presentinvestigation is concerned with ground-based observations. AI Phe wasobserved on 16 nights in August and September 1981. Observations werealso conducted on 11 nights during the time from July to November 1981.Attention is given to the average extinction and transformationcoefficients for the obtained data, standardized magnitudes and colorindices, five spectra of AI Phe, the differential magnitudes and colorindices of AI Phoenicis, and an analysis of the light curves in fivebandpasses.
