A catalogue of eclipsing variables
A new catalogue of 6330 eclipsing variable stars is presented. Thecatalogue was developed from the General Catalogue of Variable Stars(GCVS) and its textual remarks by including recently publishedinformation about classification of 843 systems and making correspondingcorrections of GCVS data. The catalogue1 represents thelargest list of eclipsing binaries classified from observations.

Apsidal motion in eccentric eclipsing binaries: V871 Aql, V345 Lac, V401 Lac and CR Sct
About thirty new times of minimum light recorded with photoelectric orCCD photometers were obtained for several little studied eccentric-orbiteclipsing binaries V871 Aql (P=3.0°, e=0.13), V345 Lac ( 7.5°,0.46), V401 Lac ( 2.0°, 0.16) and CR Sct ( 4.2°, 0.09). TheirO-C diagrams were analyzed using all reliable timings found in theliterature and in all cases an apsidal motion was either discovered orconfirmed. The new values for the elements of the apsidal motion werederived. We find periods of apsidal motion of about 255, 7000, 79.4 and4400 years for V871 Aql, V345 Lac, V401 Lac and CR Sct, respectively.Partly based on photoelectric observations secured at the HvarObservatory, Zagreb University, Croatia.

Apsidal Motion in Detached Binary Stars: Comparison of Theory and Observations
A list of 62 detached binaries having reliable data on the rotation ofthe line of apsides is considered. Theoretical estimates of the rate ofapsidal motion are obtained. These estimates are compared withobservational data. It is shown that cases in which the theoreticalestimate exceeds the observed value are several times more frequent thancases in which the theoretical value is lower than the observed one.This discrepancy increases when systems with more reliable observationaldata are considered.

Apsidal Motion in Double Stars. I. Catalog
A catalog of 128 double stars with measured periods of apsidal motion iscompiled. Besides the apsidal periods, the orbital elements of binariesand physical parameters of components (masses, radii, effectivetemperatures, surface gravities) are given. The agreement of the apsidalperiods found by various authors is discussed.

Apsidal motion in the eclipsing binaries V1136 Cygni, ES Lacertae, MZ Lacertae and EQ Vulpeculae
About thirty new times of minimum light recorded with photoelectricmeans have been gathered for the early-type eccentric eclipsing binariesV1136 Cyg (P = 3.46(d) , e = 0.33), ES Lac (P = 4.46(d) , e = 0.20), MZLac (P = 3.16(d) , e = 0.42) and EQ Vul (P = 9.30(d) , e = 0.36). TheO-C diagrams are analyzed using all reliable timings found in theliterature and new values for the elements of the apsidal motion arecomputed. We find new periods of apsidal motion of about 520, 300, 440and 2200 years for V1136 Cyg, ES Lac, MZ Lac and EQ Vul, respectively.

Apsidal motion in the eclipsing binary FT Orionis.
We report several new photoelectric times of minimum for the eclipsingbinary FT Orionis with large orbital eccentricity. They confirm theexistence of a periastron revolution. Using all precise timings found inthe literature, new values for the elements of the apsidal motion andthe internal structure constant are computed.

Times of Minima of Eight Eclipsing Binaries
We report times of minima of eccentric eclipsing binaries derived fromphotometric observations made at Ege University Observatory in Turkeyand at Cerro Tololo Interamerican Observatory (CTIO) in Johnson B and Vfilters, and at the High Altitude Maidanak Observatory in Uzbekistan inJohnson U,B,V,R filters. Heliocentric times of minimum were estimatedfor each filter by using the method of Kwee and Van Woerden (1956) asadapted to a Macintosh computer. The adopted time of minimum was thenthe average over all filters. In all cases the times of minimum indifferent filters was concordant. Uncertainties in the times of minimawere estimated from the values of standard error computed by the methodand from the differences in times derived from the various filters used.Primary eclipses are designated as type 1 eclipses, and secondaryeclipses as type 2.

Searching for Intrinsic Variations in Eclipsing Binary Stars
Using a database of nearly 4000 visual estimates made by the authorbetween 1967 and 1993, evidence for intrinsic variations on a time scaleof years is sought after 64 eclipsing binary stars. While none is foundfor most stars, certainb objects warrant further investigation.
