Vitesses radiales. Catalogue WEB: Wilson Evans Batten. Subtittle: Radial velocities: The Wilson-Evans-Batten catalogue.
We give a common version of the two catalogues of Mean Radial Velocitiesby Wilson (1963) and Evans (1978) to which we have added the catalogueof spectroscopic binary systems (Batten et al. 1989). For each star, when possible, we give: 1) an acronym to enter SIMBAD (Set ofIdentifications Measurements and Bibliography for Astronomical Data) ofthe CDS (Centre de Donnees Astronomiques de Strasbourg). 2) the numberHIC of the HIPPARCOS catalogue (Turon 1992). 3) the CCDM number(Catalogue des Composantes des etoiles Doubles et Multiples) byDommanget & Nys (1994). For the cluster stars, a precise study hasbeen done, on the identificator numbers. Numerous remarks point out theproblems we have had to deal with.

Photometric Observations of V603 Aquilae

A photometric study of the old nova V603 Aquilae
It is reported that no evidence for regular eclipses or other periodicfeatures was found in high-speed photometry light curves for the oldnova, V603 Aquilae, so that the periodic variations found by the IUEsatellite remain a puzzle. It is suggested that these variations mayarise from the formation of transient features in the accretion disk. The 15 deg inclination previously inferred from spectroscopic studies issupported by recent IUE and X-ray data.

Phase-dependent optical and ultraviolet observations of the old nova V 603 Aquilae /1918/
Continuous photometric and ultraviolet spectroscopic observations of theold nova V 603 Aql (1918) were simultaneously carried out with the IUEsatellite. Periodic visible light variations with an amplitude of about0.3 m were discovered, and an orbital period of 3h18.3m was derived. TheUV spectroscopy revealed strong variations of the emission linestrengths and profiles of several ions which are clearly correlated withthe phase of the binary system. The UV line spectrum suggests theexistence of an accretion disk around the white dwarf and the presenceof highly diluted gas surrounding the entire system.

Detection of periodic light variations in the old nova V 603 Aquilae /1918/
Periodic visible light variations of the old nova V 603 Aql (1918) weredetected with the Fine Error Sensor Instrument (FES) aboard the IUEsatellite. Continuous observations were carried out during more than twocomplete cycles. The light curve shows a broad maximum and a pronouncedminimum which was covered three times, and is tentatively interpreted asan eclipse of the accretion disk around the white dwarf by the late mainsequence component.
