Submit a new article| Radial velocities of the contact binary system RW Doradus Radial velocities are reported for both components of the short-periodcontact binary RW Dor. Although the data set is limited to nineobservations of one half of the orbital cycle, and two observations ofthe other half, the mass ratio and the minimum masses are determined toprecisions of 5 percent. These results are then combined with those fromwide-ranging analyses of extensive photometric observations by Kaluznyand Caillault (1989), and Marton, Grieco, and Sistero (1989) toestablish the masses and other astrophysical parameters of the systemfor the first time. The system is confirmed to be a W-type contactbinary composed of two K-type stars. It is therefore one of the lowestmass W-type systems known and has properties typical of such contactbinaries.
